Ford’s performance family sedan is close to launch in the US. The Taurus SHO uses a 3.5-litre V6 engine with two turbos to make power of 268kW (365hp) and peak torque of 475Nm. This EcoBoost engine is said by Ford to provide V8 performance with the fuel economy of a V6.
Driving the wheels is a SelectShift 6-speed automatic gearbox with shift paddles behind the steering wheel. It also comes with 19-inch wheels and an all-wheel-drive system. Cosmetics include twin tailpipes in chrome.
Ford is bringing back the SHO performance badge after many years in the wilderness.
Such a pity though that the car is only sold in the US. Prices begin at US$37,170 but I was able to configure a “dream” spec for myself for US$39,995 through Ford’s online self-configurator.
