Recall: Toyota Prius 650,000 calls
Toyota has summoned the owners of the hybrid model, Prius, with manufacturing between 2004 and 2007 for a worldwide voluntary recall, according to a statement posted on its website on Tuesday automotivenews.com (30). The car made contact online with the assistance of Toyota in Brazil. But as the car is not sold here, was not given any official information about the case.
650,000 units are affected by the call, which will replace the exchange of water pump cooling system. Of these, 378,000 vehicles are in the United States. The company reported that the problem does not generate serious risks, but lack of maintenance can cause overheating, loss of power and to render the vehicle inoperable.
The defect is linked to the current design of the pump that allows air bubbles entering the system. This behavior affects the cooling of the vehicle, contributing to the warming of the hybrid system. The campaign will begin in December and Toyota said it will bear the costs for part exchange. Since November 2009 the brand has already announced a recall of 15.4 million vehicles worldwide, 11 million in America alone.
