Coviello C6W six-wheel zero electronic car
The six wheels have made it famous. Now, in Bologna, comes the most extreme version: no electronics, no power steering and power brake.
It is not the first time. The first was that of the Tyrrell P34. But it was 1976 and it was an F1 car. Then, the following year, Ferrari Lauda did try a six-wheel, with those twin rear, on the Nardo track, but the Drake, the experiment ended, the wine leaves with this understanding that the operation was more a matter of communication that actually technical.
"The inspiration came from the Tyrrell, but the first time it was only in 2007 to explain is the engineer. Ferruccio Coviello, father of Covini C6W, dream six-wheeled, four steering. Built in Cortemaggiore in the province of Piacenza, is also one of the few supercar to decorate the stands of the Bologna Motor Show. "It's not just that but its evolution even more unconventional: no electronics and no power steering and power brake. During testing we found that was even better this way. "
So C6W exposed to Bologna is actually a prototype, the Coviello to come. The engine, a V8 with 440 hp Audi of origin, the pushing speed of 300 km / h, the frame is tubular steel, fiberglass body and carbon fiber. "We wanted a car real, simple and without complications. And now we have taken even a few pounds of weight to the 1200 base. "
The four rear wheels only 15 "allowing, among other things, to improve the braking and stability than a normal supercar. And this was another conviction of Covina: "The grip is obviously higher. This is evident especially in the mixed routes where C6W demonstrates agility and cleaning distance curve unusual and extraordinary. "
It is 4.18 meters long and 1.08 m high only this Covini that if everything goes as we hope, could go into production next spring. The price? Nothing is set yet. But we are talking about € 350,000.
