China has built the world's longest over-water bridge
In China today, June 30, officially opened the world's longest over-water bridge. The length of the bridge over the bay of Jiaozhou in the Yellow Sea. The bridge over the bay of Jiaozhou sea was built in four years, the cost of the work amounted to more than 10 billion yuan (1.5 billion dollars). The bridge is supported by over 5 thousand concrete piles, which can withstand an 8-point earthquake.
According to the Guinness Book of Records, the longest sea surface above the bridge was considered a bridge-causeway across Lake Pontchartrain in the U.S. state of Louisiana. This building, built in 1956, yields on the length of the Chinese Bridge for more than 4 km. Currently, seven of the ten longest bridges in the world, including record-length 164 km, are located in China.
