BAFANA STAR, COMRADES KING, TO RACE AUDI Q7 TO CAPE TOWN

Audi South Africa and Audi Driving Experience will be partnering with Continental Tyres for the 2011 Run2Stop Challenge. The challenge pits man against machine where athletes will race against the Audi Q7 from Cape Town to Johannesburg. The race commences on the 23rd July and concludes on the 3rd August 2011.

The running team will be taking the 1 300 km direct route from Cape Town to Johannesburg while the driving team will be involved in various challenges along the route making it a gruelling 6 000km journey.

The driving team will be captained by ex-Bafana Bafana player, Mark Fish. The lead vehicle is the Audi Q7 3.0T FSI quattro triptronic and is supported by an Audi A4 2.0T FSI quattro. The driving team will head off from Goodwood in the Cape through the Garden Route and via Kimberley eventually heading toward the finish in Johannesburg.

The running team will be captained by radio DJ and Comrades marathon runner Brad Brown; the team includes Lindsey Parry a renowned Comrades coach and ex-Bafana Bafana star and Comrades marathon athlete Helman Mkhalele as well as Andre Kleinhans, Elias mabane, Gantanus Gantsi, Peter Ramathoka, Jacob Mazibuko, Jabulani Nkosi and Justin Sher.

South African ultra-marathoner, Bruce Fordyce, will be joining the athletes during the last 7.5km of the race towards the finish line. All proceeds raised from the race will be donated to the Sports Trust for sporting development in schools.
