BMW will be launching the 1 Series M Coupe this week, and we have prices. M Division’s smallest car will break you off at least R546 392 at the dealer’s, excluding a few prized options. The rear-wheel-drive 1 M Coupe is based on the 2-door 1 Series Coupe that’s due for a facelift this week as well. It has the same 3.0-litre twin turbo N54 engine found in the 135i. But with extra kick.
So exactly what does R546 392 pay for? For one, there’s a choice of 3 exterior colours, including the standard white and two optional colours (at R2 050 each) of black and Valencia orange, same colour as the car used in marketing communications. Wheels are 265/35 ZR 19 tyres on 19-inch light alloys.
Optional equipment includes satellite navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, a 6-CD changer, a Harman Kardon sound system, rear park distance control and seat warming for front passengers.
Remember the 1 M Coupe is equipped with a 250kW, 450Nm engine, as well as a 6-speed manual gearbox. They say it will run from 0 – 100km/h in just 4.9 seconds and stop accelerating at 250km/h.
Fans and connoisseurs will be able to view it close up at the 2011 Johannesburg International Motor Show (JIMS) which takes place at NASREC south west of Jozi this October.
