2012 Chevrolet Equinox Reviews

For the 2012 Chevrolet Equinox, new forward collision alert and lane-departure warning systems are now available. Equinox 1LT models also have the rearview camera as standard equipment this year. However, the optional rear seat video entertainment system has been dropped.

With a rear seat that slides back to create an expanse worthy of a prom-night limousine, the 2012 Equinox easily counts rear legroom among its strengths.

Standard equipment for the LS includes 17-inch alloy wheels, air-conditioning, cloth upholstery, a partial power driver seat (height adjustment only), a sliding and reclining rear seat, cruise control, full power accessories, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel with audio controls, Bluetooth, OnStar and a six-speaker sound system with a CD player, satellite radio and an auxiliary audio jack.

Every 2012 Chevrolet Equinox comes standard with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 182 hp and 172 pound-feet of torque. Every Equinox regardless of engine comes standard with a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive; all-wheel drive is optional. EPA-estimated fuel economy is 22 mpg city/32 mpg highway and 26 mpg combined with front-wheel drive and 20/29/23 with all-wheel drive. With the V6, front-wheel-drive models return an estimated 17/24/20, with all-wheel-drive versions coming in at 16/23/19.

The 2012 Chevy Equinox comes standard with antilock disc brakes (with brake assist), traction and stability control, front seat side airbags, side curtain airbags and OnStar. The Chevy Equinox boasts a stylish cabin filled with premium touches. The Equinox boasts a nice expanse of passenger room, with 60/40-split rear seats that slide back to provide substantial rear legroom.

The 2012 Chevrolet Equinox isn’t likely to receive any major changes. Should you wait for the 2012 Chevrolet Equinox or buy a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox? Styling: Any minor changes to the 2012 Chevrolet Equinox – colors, tail lamp tint, and wheel style -- won’t take it far field from the look of the 2010-2011 Equinox.

Mechanical: The 2012 Chevrolet Equinox will reprise a choice of four- and six-cylinder engines and front- or all-wheel drive. Equinox has offered front-wheel drive or extra-cost all-wheel drive (AWD) at every trim level and should continue to do so for 2012. Prices for the 2012 Chevrolet Equinox had not been released in time for this review. (Estimated base prices in this review include the manufacturer’s mandated destination fee; Chevrolet’s fee for the 2011 Equinox was $745.)

That means an Equinox with the four-cylinder engine should remain among the more fuel-efficient crossovers of its size. Expect 2012 Chevy Equinox ratings for four-cylinder models to stay around 22/32 mpg city/highway with front-wheel drive and around 20/29 with AWD.

The 2011 version of this five-seat crossover got the first styling changes since Edge’s model-year 2008 introduction. With the Ford Escape SUV appealing to entry-level crossover shoppers, the 2012 Edge’s base price range should again hover above that of the Equinox, at roughly $29,000-$39,900.

2011 Chevrolet Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle

Chevrolet Caprice Police Patrol VehicleAn all-new Chevrolet Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle (PPV) will join the ranks of law enforcement departments across North America in 2011. It's a modern, full-size, rear-drive sedan that will offer both V-8 and V-6 engines, as well as a host of specialized equipment and features.
Chevrolet Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle - Front Angle, 2011, 800x600, 1 of 33
Chevrolet made the announcement at the annual International Association of Chiefs of Police convention, in Denver, Colorado. The Chevrolet Caprice PPV will be available for ordering next year and will hit the streets in early 2011.

"The new Chevrolet Caprice police car is the right tool at the right time for law enforcement," said Jim Campbell, general manager for GM Fleet and Commercial Operations. "We asked for a lot of feedback from our police customers, which helped us develop a vehicle that is superior to the Crown Victoria in key areas."
Vice President, Global Chevrolet Brand Brent Dewar added, "Along with Impala and Tahoe, the Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle gives agencies a greater range of choices for police and special service vehicles that are all available from Chevrolet."
Unlike other police cars on the market, the Chevrolet Caprice PPV is not based on existing "civilian" passenger-car model sold in North America. It has been developed in key areas specifically for police duty, containing modern equipment and features:

Powerful 6.0L V-8 with fuel-saving Active Fuel Management technology and E85 capability delivers expected best-in-class 0-60 acceleration (sub six seconds) and top speed; a V-6 engine will also be offered, beginning in the 2012 model year
Optional front-seat-only side curtain air bags allows a full-width rear-seat barrier for greater officer safety
Two trunk-mounted batteries, with one of them dedicated to powering various police equipment
Designed for five-passenger seating, meaning the upper-center section of the dashboard can be used for equipment mounting without the concern of air bag deployment interference
Compatibility with in-dash touch-screen computer technology
Special front seats designed for the long-term comfort of officers whose car is their effective office, including space that accommodates the bulk of a typical equipment belt

The front seats are sculpted to "pocket" the equipment belt, which greatly increases the comfort for a great range of police officer sizes. The foam density of the seatback and cushion insert surfaces are designed to conform to the shape of an equipment belt's various items, too, allowing the officer's back to rest properly on the seatback surface.
"The Chevrolet Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle's seats represent a revolution in comfort and utility for officers who spend long hours in their car," said Bob Demick, lead seat design manager. "The shape also enhances entry and egress, making it easier for officers to exit the vehicle quickly. The seatback bolsters, for example, have been purposefully contoured to help pocket the equipment on the belt, which includes the gun, Taser and handcuffs, which rest comfortably in the sculpted lower bolsters. That also increases the longevity of the trim cover surface."
Along with comfort, the materials used in the seats were also carefully selected. High-wear materials were chosen to stand up to long hours of everyday use, while breathability, long-term durability and ease of cleaning were also important criteria.
Engineers worked on several iterations of the seat, testing a couple of versions in the field to get real-world feedback from police officers, who used prototype seats in their cruisers for a month. Their input helped determine the final design.
Class-leading space
The Chevrolet Caprice PPV is based on GM's global rear-drive family of vehicles that also underpins the Chevy Camaro. It uses the longest wheelbase of the architecture - 118.5 inches (3,010 mm) - along with a four-wheel independent suspension that delivers responsive high-performance driving characteristics that are crucial in some police scenarios.
Chevrolet Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle's long wheelbase also contributes to exceptional spaciousness. Compared to the primary competition, its advantages include:

A larger interior volume - 112 cubic feet / 3,172 liters - than the Ford Crown Victoria, including nearly 4 inches (101 mm) more rear legroom
The barrier between the front seat and rear seat is positioned farther rearward, allowing for full front-seat travel and greater recline for officer comfort
At 18 cubic feet (535 liters) free space (beyond battery located in trunk), the Caprice's trunk volume is large enough to accommodate a full-size spare tire under a flat load surface in the trunk storage area. The Chevrolet Caprice's 6.0-liter V-8 is rated at an estimated 355 horsepower (265 kW) with an estimated 384 lb-ft of torque. It is backed by a six-speed automatic transmission that is performance-calibrated for police duty. Additional, police car-specific powertrain and vehicle system features include:

  • High-output alternator

  • Engine oil, transmission and power steering coolers

  • Standard 18-inch steel wheels with bolt-on center caps

  • Large, four-wheel disc brakes with heavy-duty brake pads

  • Heavy-duty suspension components

  • Police-calibrated stability control system

Driver information center in the instrument cluster with selectable speed tracking feature. A host of complementary features are also offered, including special equipment packages such as spotlights; lockouts for the power windows and locks; and an "undercover" street-appearance package (9C3).
To enable more room for interior equipment, the standard radio can be relocated to the trunk, allowing for an in-dash, touch-screen computer to be used.

Electric Cars Chevrolet Corvette C1 1953

C1 Chevrolet Corvette is a sports car produced from 1953 to 1962. This is the first generation of Chevrolet Corvettes built and marketed by Chevrolet. Although the style of the car can be as important for some of the way the car runs, automobile manufacturers have started to pay attention to car designs until 1920. Until 1927, when General Motors hired designer Harley Earl, that automotive style and design has become important to American automobile manufacturers. What Henry Ford did the automobile industry principles, Harley Earl was the design of cars. The majority of GM's flamboyant "dream car" designs of 1950 are directly attributable to Earl, leading one journalist to comment that the designs were "the American psyche made visible." Harley Earl loved sports cars, and people returning GIS after serving overseas World War I brought home from MGS, Jaguar, Alfa Romeo, and so on. Earl convinced GM that they needed to build a sporty two-seater. The result was the 1953 Corvette, unveiled to the public that the Motorama show car.

The original Corvette emblem incorporated an American flag in its design, it was later abandoned when connecting the flag with a product that has been deprecated. The name of the corvette, a small fight maneuverable frigate (the credit for the nomination goes to Myron Scott), the first Corvettes were virtually hand-made in Flint, Michigan in Chevrolet Centre customer delivery, is now a building University Kettering University. The outer body was a revolutionary new composite material called fiberglass, selected in part because of steel quotas left over from the war. This radical new body were standard Chevrolet components, such as "Blue Flame" engine truck line six-cylinder two-speed Powerglide automatic transmission, drum brakes and the usual line of Chevrolet vehicles. Despite the engine's power is increased somewhat, thanks to a triple carburetor intake exclusive Corvette, the car's performance was decidedly mediocre.
In comparison with British and Italian sports cars of the time, the Corvette was insufficient, requires much effort and clear the way to a stop, and even lost a transmission of "good" manual. Until then, the Chevrolet division of GM entry-level brand, known for good cars, but no frills. Nowhere was more evident than in the Corvette. A compressor Paxton became available in 1954 as a dealer-installed option, which improves performance Corvette in a straight line, but sales continued to decline.
GM is seriously considering to shelve the project, leaving the Corvette to be little more than a history of car note, and would, if not two big events. The first introduction in 1955, the first Chevrolet V8 (265 in ³ {4.3 L}) since 1919, and the second was the impact of Soviet emigres GM's engineering department, Zora Duntov, ARKUS. ARKUS-Duntov simply took the new V8, and is supported by a three-speed transmission. This change is probably the most important car in history, helped turn the Corvette two-seat curiosity into a real artist. It 'was also ARKUS-Duntov rather imprecise, "Father of the Corvette." Nickname The first generation is commonly referred to as a solid axle, which is based on the fact that independent rear suspension (IRS) was not available until 1963.
The first generation began in 1953 and ended in 1962, with the notable addition of optional fuel injection in 1957. This new induction system first saw regular use of a gasoline engine two years before the Mercedes-Benz 300SL "Gullwing" roadster. Although the Corvette GM-Rochester fuel injection system used a style constant flow of fuel injection system, as opposed to the metering system of the diesel style nozzle Mercedes six-cylinder, the system still produces about 290hp. The number was reduced by the advertising agency for Chevrolet 283HP/283 ³ (4.6 L) of a CV by the slogan ³, making it one of the first mass-produced engines in history to reach 1 hp / in ³. In 1962, GM small block expanded to 327 in ³ (5.4 L) and produces a maximum of 360 hp (268 kW). Other early options included Power Windows (1956), the hydraulic power convertible top (1956), four speed manual transmission (mid 1957), and heavy brake and suspension options (1957).

Chevrolet Corvette C7 2013

If the Corvette Stingray concept foreshadows the next-generation Corvette C7, then what might the production car look like?
Given the concept’s massive wheels, exaggerated exterior, and extremely low roofline, there’s almost no way the production Corvette C7 will look exactly like it. The Corvette C7 will retain its front-engine layout, forgoing a more costly – and complex – mid-engine setup.
One speculated engine option would be a twin-turbo 3.6-liter DOHC V6 capable of 400 horsepower.

For example, when the Corvette’s most recent major update came along for model year 2005, purporting to mark the transition from generation five (C5) to generation six, we characterized the sum of the changes as Corvette C5 and 11/16ths.

The members of  the Corvette tribe don’t refer to their baby in alphanumerics. The Corvette’s looks haven’t changed much in the last two generations, covering 13 years, but we anticipate change in the Corvette C7 will be apparent at a glance, even to casual observers.

According to insider folklore, CEO Dan Akerson—GM’s fourth CEO since March 2009—attended a Corvette styling review and told design chief Ed Welburn that he thought the C6’s posterior was way too wide. Chevrolet first signaled its interest in reviving the split window by outfitting the Stingray concept vehicle with one. The C6 Vette has long been a respected member of the serious sports-car community, but its interior has been subpar for ¬¬just as long. There will be changes under the hood, too. Also, fuel-economy ratings may show a slight uptick. We look for the base Corvette coupe to start at roughly $52,000, ranging up to about $115,000 for the ZR1.
The future for America’s sports car sees the Corvette becoming lighter, slicker and moderately more compact, powered by an equally powerful but smaller V-8. A list of priorities from the average Corvette owner puts perform¬ance at the top, with fuel efficiency somewhere just above the desire for rear seats and a better tow rating.

In the meantime, the new Corvette C7 will retain a front-engine design, but the car will lose weight while its engine will become more effective at extracting energy from fuel. Improved aerodynamics will also help the Vette punch a smaller hole through the air, aiding acceleration, top speed and mpg.

2012 Chevy Sonic Review

Chevy Sonic
The 2012 Chevrolet Sonic replaces the Chevrolet Aveo. How will Chevrolet take the Sonic to the next level? First, the Sonic gets the same engines as the Chevrolet Cruze – a 1.4-liter turbo charged engine and 1.8-liter engine. Second, Chevrolet upped Sonic’s interior features. The Chevrolet Sonic, for example, has heated front seats and remote vehicle start, two features that aren’t common in the class. Third, Chevrolet redesigned the Sonic’s exterior to make it more aggressive and sportier-looking than the outgoing Aveo. One of the Sonic’s most obvious competitors is the Ford Fiesta. First, the Fiesta sedan has 12.8 cubic feet of cargo room – the Sonic sedan has 14. The Fiesta hatchback has 15.4 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats in use – the Sonic has 19. Chevrolet gave the Chevy Sonic interior options like a sunroof, heated front seats and Bluetooth connectivity to make it more class competitive.

Details: 2012 Chevrolet Sonic
The 2012 Chevrolet Sonic is an all-new model from Chevrolet that replaces the Chevrolet Aveo. Chevrolet gave the Sonic Chevrolet Sonic the same engines as the well-liked Chevrolet Cruze. Chevrolet hasn’t released pricing information yet, but Car and Driver speculates that with the 2011 Chevrolet Aveo starting at $12,685, the Sonic should have a base price around $13,000. The Sonic will be available as a sedan and hatchback.

With its new Sonic, Chevrolet now has a more compelling contender in the subcompact segment. The Sonic replaces the Aveo and will compete with the Ford Fiesta, Honda Fit and Nissan Versa. Like the Fiesta and Versa, the Chevy Sonic is available in sedan and hatchback body styles.

Trunk space for the sedan has increased, though, growing from 12.4 cubic feet to 14 cubic feet. Like the Chevrolet Cruze, the Chevy Sonic comes with a base 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine and an available turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder. The turbocharged engine makes 138 horsepower. Available transmissions for the 1.8-liter include a five-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission.

Standard safety equipment includes 10 standard air bags, antilock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist, and OnStar with Automatic Crash Response.
2012 Chevrolet Sonic ,It's bigger, bolder, and likely a better buy, but this redesigned subcompact will face tough competition--and the same tough task of convincing more buyers to get small. Meet the 2012 Chevrolet Sonic.
Of course, demand for fuel-efficient vehicles tends to rise and fall with fuel prices, as well as with public confidence in the way things are going. The 2012 Chevrolet Sonic reflects these trends, as we know from various recent intel and the production-preview Aveo RS Concept revealed at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show. As a result, sources say, this subcompact will grow to about the same size as Chevy's Cobalt compact car (recently replaced by Cruze).

2011 Chevrolet Aveo Hatchback form also comes with a rear spoiler

2011 Chevrolet Aveo Hatchback
The Chevrolet Aveo Hatchback trails its subcompact competition in performance and refinement, but its pricing is kind to tight budgets The 2011 Chevrolet Aveo is available as either a sedan or a four-door hatchback, dubbed the Aveo5. The Aveo5 hatchback in 2LT form also comes with a rear spoiler. The official EPA mileage estimates for the Aveo are respectable for this class, with a manual-equipped example achieving 27 mpg city/35 mpg highway and 30 mpg combined. An Aveo with the automatic transmission drops to 25/34/28 mpg.

With the 2011 Chevrolet Aveo, General Motors is taking its small car destiny in its own hands, bringing its Honda Fit fighter home to America--at least in terms of design and production. We already have a fairly good idea as to how the new Aveo will look thanks to the Aveo RS Concept but these latest spy shots, plus previously released official renderings of the 2011 Chevrolet Aveo Sedan, put an end to most of the guess work.

The 2011 Chevrolet Aveo Hatchback and Sedan are expected to go on sale in January 2011, with production taking place at GM's Orion Township plant in Michigan.
There are two petrol engine options: an 83bhp 1.2-litre and a 99bhp 1.4-litre. The lower-powered unit is competent, but the higher-powered engine is strangled by long gearing between second and third. Both engines are smooth and reasonably quiet even when being revved hard, and wind noise is negligible at UK speeds

The Aveo was Chevrolet‘s best-selling car globally. designed to expand on the nameplate‘s success in the highly competitive small car market.

Redesigned in 2007, the Korean built 2011 Chevrolet Aveo is a sub-compact car that is large on value but small on price. Optional on the Aveo are air conditioning, leatherette seats, power windows and door locks, aluminum wheels and satellite radio. With a lower starting price, the Chevrolet Aveo compares well with competitors Honda Fit and Toyota Yaris.
The 2011 Chevy Aveo is offered in two body styles: a 4-door sedan and a 5-door hatchback known as the Aveo5.

2011 Chevrolet Equinox Overview

Chevrolet Equinox
The 2011 Chevrolet Equinox is powered by a responsive V-6 or more economical four-cylinder base engine. Significant chassis upgrades help the 2010 Chevrolet Equinox handle better than any previous model.

There's a retractable cargo cover, stretchy net, and two deep cargo wells in back, and the center console well is very deep. Overall, the Chevrolet Equinox is quiet and refined and would make a great highway vehicle for a small family; the ride feels more settled, less pitchy, than former vehicles on this platform—and versus some compact crossover alternatives.

Crash test scores for the Chevrolet Equinox have been stellar, as its safety equipment, and it's been named an IIHS Top Safety Pick. A rear-seat entertainment system, a navigation system, leather seating, heated seats, Bluetooth, steering-wheel audio/phone controls, a sunroof, a rearview camera, and remote start are options.

After last year’s significant and needed improvements to the Equinox, Chevy releases the 2011 model with few new changes. Still doing well in fuel savings thanks to the new engine configurations, the Equinox remains a capable performer that provides a good, capable and comfortable ride no matter which of the two engine choices you choose from. With a starting MSRP of around $23,700, the Chevrolet Equinox is competitively priced within its class. Front wheel drive comes standard on the Chevrolet Equinox, while all wheel drive is available at additional cost. For most people, the 2011 Equinox has more than enough power and capability.
Car Safety Features: Standard traction and stability control, antilock disc brakes, front seat side airbags and side curtain airbags work together to give the 2010 Equinox a perfect five out of five stars in government crash tests and four out of five stars for the rollover rating.

Standard wheel size is 17-inch alloys with an option for a 19-inch alloy wheel upgrade. The Equinox features a one-piece rear liftgate, a single-horizontal-bar grille, raked-forward stance and an overall clean look.

You wouldn’t expect to get much performance out of a I-4 engine in a vehicle as large as the 2011 Equinox, but surprisingly, this engine provides adequate acceleration. Cruising around the city in a 4-cylinder-equipped 2011 Chevrolet Equinox is pleasant. The 2.4-liter 4-cylinder base engine on the 2011 Chevrolet Equinox produces 182 horsepower and 172 pound-feet of torque. The 3.0-liter V6 gets 264 horsepower and 222 pound-feet of torque. There's a whole lot to love about the 2011 Chevrolet Equinox. Like any vehicle, the 2011 Chevrolet Equinox does have its downfalls

Since the Pontiac Torrent and Saturn VUE are now defunct, the Equinox, Terrain, 9-4X and SRX are the only Theta vehicles in America. The 2011 Equinox rides on a longer 112.5 inch wheelbase and benefits from increased interior space over its previous generation. The current generation, which debuted in 2010, features two new direct injected engine options and all Equinox models use a six speed automatic

Our tester was a 2LT with standard front wheel drive and the new, 2.4 liter direct injected DOHC Ecotec four-cylinder. Along with this engine, our Equinox included standard features such as automatic climate control, Pioneer premium eight speaker stereo system with XM radio and MP3 integration, rearview camera, Stabilitrak-stability control, 17 inch alloy wheels and integrated fog lamps. Standard MSRP was $25,970 but our tester featured the optional $1,295 rear seat entertainment system, $495 power lift gate and $800 leather appointed seats. It is not just the seats in the Chevrolet Equinox that create a cozzy interior. Once at highway speed, the Equinox did a fine job at holding steady. Four cylinder Chevrolet Equinox models feature an “Eco Mode” button that manipulates the transmission’s shift patterns in order to increase fuel mileage. “Eco Mode” was partially responsible for our tester’s average fuel mileage of 23 mpg in mixed driving. With comfort and fuel economy checked off the list, the Equinox needs one more plus to become a “triple threat” success story. This Equinox was made to haul around people and it does so very well.

The 2011 Chevrolet Equinox is a very humble vehicle. Competitively priced within its segment, the Equinox does an excellent job at being a mid size crossover SUV.

2011 Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid SUVs

2011 Chevy Tahoe HybridThe 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid SUVs. The Tahoe Hybrid is expensive: it starts at about $13,000 more than the conventional Tahoe. The Tahoe Hybrid promises a 25 percent improvement in fuel economy in mixed driving, but because the gas-only Tahoe’s 15/21 mpg fuel economy is so low, hybrid buyers may be less-than-impressed with the Tahoe Hybrid’s 20/23 mpg fuel economy rating.

But, again, if you really need the Tahoe Hybrid, reviewers say you’ll be pleased. The Chevrolet Traverse offers similar seating capacity to the Tahoe Hybrid, and while it can’t match the Tahoe Hybrid’s city fuel economy, it beats its highway numbers. Best of all, it costs about $20,000 less than the Tahoe Hybrid.

Facing and addressing this issue head on, General Motors developed the Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid.
As its name implies, the Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid is a full-size SUV with a gasoline/electric powertrain to help boost fuel economy. The EPA gives the two-wheel-drive Tahoe Hybrid a 21 mpg city/22 mpg highway fuel economy estimate, with a combined average of 21 mpg. As with most other full hybrid vehicles, the Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid can accelerate from a standstill to about 30 mph on electricity alone, a major factor in the Tahoe's increased city fuel economy. The Tahoe Hybrid also has aerodynamic add-ons and low-rolling-resistance tires.

The rest of the Chevy Tahoe Hybrid is largely identical to other, well-equipped Tahoe models. In our reviews of the Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid, we've found that it drives very much like a regular Tahoe. The main downsides to the Tahoe Hybrid, however, are price and absolute fuel economy. Used Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid Models

The Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid is the first full-size SUV to utilize a hybrid drive system and offers 33 percent improved fuel economy compared to the standard Tahoe in city driving.
Based on the Tahoe platform, the "Tahoe Hybrid" simply adds Chevrolet's two-mode hybrid system that allows the SUV to be completed powered by an electric motor at low speeds and a 6.0-liter V8 with Active Fuel Management. EPA fuel economy ratings are listed at 21/22 city/highway for two-wheel drive models and an even 20/20 for Tahoe Hybrids equipped with four-wheel drive.

2011 Chevrolet Silverado Hybrid Overviews

2011 Chevrolet Silverado Hybrid
The 2011 Chevrolet Silverado Hybrid, and its twin, the GMC Sierra Hybrid, are the only hybrid options for full-size truck buyers. Luckily, most reviewers say the Silverado gives up little capability while chasing fuel economy.

"Compared to the gas-only Silverado, the Silverado Hybrid has a 40 percent increase in city fuel economy, and achieves gas mileage similar to a midsize sedan's. Since the 2011 Chevrolet Silverado Hybrid" is available in only one body style, its consumer appeal is limited.

The 2011 Chevrolet Silverado Hybrid is available in two well-equipped trims. For 2011, the "Silverado Hybrid" gains enhancements to help reduce wind noise.

The Silverado Hybrid’s impressive around-town fuel economy — typically 6-7 mpg higher than competitive non-hybrids — is arguably the best reason to buy. The two-mode hybrid powertrain on the "2011 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Hybrid" is no small engineering triumph. Even the miserly Silverado XFE is rated just 1 mpg less than the Hybrid’s 23 mpg highway rating, while the standard 5.3-liter V8 Silverado still rates a respectable 21 highway mpg. The 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Hybrid is a full-size crew cab pickup available in either 1HY or 2HY trim.

Available in either two- or four-wheel-drive, the "Silverado 1500 Hybrid" is powered by a 6.0-liter V8. The "2011 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Hybrid" comes standard with stability control, antilock disc brakes and full-length side curtain airbags.

The two-mode "hybrid powertrain on the 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Hybrid" is no small engineering triumph. A nickel-metal hydride battery pack (located underneath the rear bench seat) provides the charge for the electric motors, and a regenerative braking system recharges that battery pack during deceleration.

With the" electric motors" kicked in, the combined output is 379 horsepower. Even the miserly Silverado XFE is rated just 1 mpg less than the Hybrid's 23 mpg highway rating, while the standard 5.3-liter V8 Silverado still rates a respectable 21 highway mpg. For most people, though, the 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Hybrid will likely remain an overpriced curiosity.

2011 Chevy Suburban Reviews

2011 Chevy Suburban
The 2011 Chevy Suburban Large SUVs. The Chevrolet Suburban is one of the longest-running nameplates in the automotive market, and with good reason. The Suburban combines a large and comfortable interior with excellent towing abilities.

Edmunds calls the Suburban "a compelling choice for those who need a traditional full-size SUV with massive passenger, cargo and towing capacities. Though it has space for up to nine people, lots of room for cargo and the ability to tow heavy loads, the Suburban is also a large, thirsty SUV. Like most of the class, the Suburban rides on a truck-based platform. On the road, the Suburban is surprisingly easy to drive. If you need the Suburban's interior space as well as its towing abilities, compare it with the Ford Expedition EL, which has a long wheelbase, like the Suburban.

Details: Chevrolet Suburban
The 2011 Suburban is very similar to the 2010 model.

Behind the first-row seats, Suburban offers 137.4 cubic feet of cargo room, along with up to 8,100 lbs of towing capability (1/2-ton 1500 2WD models), when properly equipped; Suburban 2500 (3/4-ton) can tow up to 9,600 lbs.
Standard in Suburban 1500 2WD models is an iron-block Vortec 5.3-liter V-8 with 320 horsepower and 335 lb.-ft. of torque, which offers Active Fuel Management fuel-saving technology.

The Suburban 1500 engines are backed by the fuel-saving Hydra-Matic 6L80 six-speed automatic transmission.
The Suburban 1Lz adds chrome recovery tow-hooks and a two-speed transfer case to the 4WD model, as well as available 20-inch wheels.

Other optional features for Suburban include: Power-release fold-and-tumble second-row seat, Remote vehicle starting system, First- and second-row heated seats, Ultrasonic Rear Parking Assist, Driver information center, Tri-zone automatic HVAC, Rearview camera system, Touch-screen navigation system and DVD rear-seat entertainment system with eight-inch screen.
The 2011 Chevrolet Suburban receives only minor feature changes. The entry-level Suburban LS now gets standard Bluetooth connectivity and rear seat audio controls with headphone jacks. The 2011 Chevrolet Suburban full-size SUV is offered in 1500 and heavy-duty 2500 models.

The LS comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, side assist steps, roof rack side rails, power front bucket seats with a center console, a 50/50-split third-row seat, tri-zone manual climate control, full power accessories, Bluetooth, steering-wheel-mounted audio controls, rear-seat audio control with headphone jacks, and an eight-speaker audio system with a CD player, auxiliary audio/USB jacks and satellite radio. The Suburban LTZ gets 20-inch polished alloy wheels, a power liftgate, rain-sensing wipers, the Autoride rear air suspension, premium leather upholstery, driver seat memory settings, heated and ventilated front seats, power-folding heated second-row seats, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and a premium 10-speaker Bose surround-sound system with satellite radio capability.

Other major options for the Suburban include 22-inch wheels, a sunroof, power-retracting running boards, a heavy-duty towing package (with an integrated trailer brake controller), an off-road package, a navigation system, a rearview camera and a rear-seat entertainment system.
Chevrolet offers two engine choices for the 2011 Suburban. Properly equipped, the Suburban 2500 can tow up to 9,600 pounds.
EPA-estimated fuel economy for the 2011 Chevrolet Suburban ranges from a high of 15 mpg city/21 mpg highway and 17 mpg in combined driving for two-wheel-drive 1500 models to a low of 10/15/12 mpg for the four-wheel-drive 2500.

Safety
The 2011 Chevrolet Suburban's list of standard safety features includes four-wheel antilock disc brakes, stability control, GM's OnStar emergency communications system, front-seat side airbags and a three-row side curtain airbag system with a rollover sensor. Like many of the latest GM models, the Suburban's passenger cabin looks remarkably good. With the available 40/20/40-split front seat, the Suburban can seat up to nine passengers, a total bested only by some full-size vans. Passenger capacity drops to eight with the standard front bucket seats and just seven on LTZ versions equipped with standard second-row buckets.

2011 Chevrolet Tahoe Large SUVs

2011 Chevrolet Tahoe
2011 Chevrolet TahoeReviews
The 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe Large SUVs. The Chevy Tahoe offers space for up to nine, good towing abilities and fuel economy that makes other large, truck-based SUVs envious.
When it comes to large SUVs, most reviewers say it's tough to beat the 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe. The fact that the Tahoe is easier to drive than its size would suggest makes the Tahoe capable of driving carpool or towing the boat to the lake.

Still, reviewers have a few complaints about the Tahoe. Reviewers say that the third-row seat in the Tahoe isn't comfortable. Though the Tahoe drives well for a large SUV, it still requires extra maneuvering space and driver attention. A lot of buyers consider large SUVs like the Tahoe because of its outsized seating capacity.

Details: Chevrolet Tahoe
The 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe gains an integrated trailer-brake controller with the optional Trailering package.
The Expedition offers a third-row seat that conveniently folds away to expand cargo capacity, yet the Ford isn't as powerful as the Tahoe. The 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe is available in three trim levels: LS, LT and LTZ. The Tahoe Hybrid is reviewed separately.

The base Tahoe LS comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, tri-zone manual climate control, eight-passenger seating with front power-adjustable bucket seats and center floor console, a 60/40-split second-row seat and 50/50-split removable third-row seat. A front split bench seat may be substituted to enable nine-passenger seating. 4WD models include a single-speed transfer case.

LT models include most available LS equipment plus front foglamps, a locking rear differential, tri-zone automatic climate control, eight-passenger leather-trimmed seating and nine-speaker Bose audio. Among options not available on the LS are second-row captain's chairs (for seven-passenger seating) and a Luxury package with heated front and second-row seats (with power release), power-folding mirrors and a power rear liftgate. A second-row split bench seat can be substituted for eight-passenger seating. LTZ options include power-retractable assist steps, a blind-spot warning system and several features also available on other Tahoe models including a sunroof, rear-seat entertainment, a Trailering package and a variety of 20- and 22-inch wheels.
Every 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe is equipped with a 5.3-liter V8 generating 320 horsepower and 335 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission transmits power through the rear wheels on 2WD models or all four wheels on 4WD models. The Tahoe's acceleration is strong for a full-size SUV, as the 4WD Tahoe hit 60 mph in about 8.5 seconds in Edmunds testing. A properly equipped Tahoe can tow up to 8,500 pounds.

The 2011 Chevy Tahoe comes standard with antilock brakes, stability control, front-seat side airbags, side curtain airbags and OnStar emergency telematics. Rear parking sensors and a rearview camera are available on every Tahoe, while the Tahoe LTZ can be had with a blind-spot warning system.

The Tahoe's tight 39-foot turning circle does make it reasonably maneuverable in town.
2011 Chevrolet Tahoe is a large crossover sport utility vehicle that features integrated trailer-brake controller and optional Trailering package.

Stepping up to LT trim level of 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe include front foglamps, 18-inch alloy wheels with skid plates, unique rear and front fascias and all-terrain tires, locking rear differential, automatically controlled tri-zone climate system, specially tuned shocks and springs, leather-trimmed eight-passenger seating, nine-speaker Bose audio, power rear liftgate, second-row captain’s chairs, power-folding mirrors and heated second-row and front and seats with power release. The high-end LTZ trim level adds variety of 20 and 22 inch wheels, rear-seat entertainment system, suspension system with active damping, sunroof, outside mirrors with ground-illuminating lights and integrated turn signals, blind-spot warning system, leather-trimmed perforated seating with more adjustments, power-retractable assist steps, ventilated and heated front seats, two-speed transfer case, power fold and flip second row seats, Bose 10-speaker premium surround sound system and navigation system with real-time traffic.

The estimated fuel economy for Tahoe is 21 mpg highway, 15 mpg city and 17 mpg in combined driving. Standard safety features on 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe include antilock brakes, OnStar emergency telematics, stability control, side curtain airbags and front seat side airbags.

2011 Corvette Z06 Review

2011 Corvette
2011 Corvette Z06 Review.
Included in the list are highly acclaimed and all-new Goodyear F1 Supercar Generation 2 tires, several optional carbon fiber replacement parts from the ZR1 in addition to other suspension and braking components from the range-topping ZR1 Corvette.

The C5/C6 Corvette birthday bash was recently held at the Corvette Museum, and Motor Authority noticed one of the attendees, Corvette Blogger, managed to capture some video of the presentation and details on the upcoming changes for the 2011 Corvette Z06.

The change was meant to make the sound more aggressive, keeping in line with changes to other Corvette models. Leftlane had also previously confirmed the addition of available carbon fiber bits from the ZR1 Corvette for the 2011 Z06 by way of the CFZ Carbon Fiber package, but Chevrolet has given more details about the pieces themselves.

(We preferred the departed Z51 Vette’s poise and livability to the Z06’s hairiness.) Enter the Z06 Carbon. Positioned to bridge the gap between the Z06 and ZR1, this special-edition Z06 adds the ZR1’s 15-inch carbon-ceramic brakes, driver-adjustable magnetorheological shocks, black 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels, and Michelin Pilot PS2 rubber. A carbon-patterned engine cover also is included, as are black headlight surrounds, door mirrors, carbon-fiber ZR1 rocker extensions, a carbon-fiber ZR1 front splitter, and numbered door decals for when you take your Carbon to the track. A raised carbon-fiber hood like the ZR1’s (but without the plastic window to the engine bay), a carbon roof panel, and a body-color, full-width rear spoiler round out the exterior mods. For 2011, GM is offering the ZR1-inspired tweaks to normal Z06 buyers through two new option packages: the Z07 group of mechanical upgrades includes the Carbon’s shocks, brakes, and various cooling improvements, as well as Competition Gray 20-spoke wheels. The CFZ carbon-fiber package features the rockers, splitter, roof panel, and full-width rear spoiler.

For 2011 the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is now available with a new Ultimate Performance option package ("Z07"), which incorporates the Corvette ZR1's adaptive suspension and wheel-and-tire fitment. Other notable changes this year include upgraded tires for the Z06; option package for the Corvette Grand Sport that combines Z06 tires with ZR1's Magnetic Ride Control suspension; and the addition of a USB port and auxiliary audio jack for the navigation system. Finally, the Corvette Engine Build Experience option allows a Z06 or ZR1 buyer to help assemble the car's engine at the GM facility in Wixom, Michigan.

The 2011 Chevrolet Corvette is pretty much the automotive equivalent of a summer action movie. On the cheaper end, Ford's 2011 Shelby GT500 is a very worthy competitor to a base Corvette. The 2011 Chevrolet Corvette is available as a coupe with a removable roof panel, a fixed-roof coupe or a convertible. Trim levels include the base Corvette, Grand Sport (GS), Z06 and ZR1. Standard on the base (1LT) coupe and convertible are 18-inch front cast-aluminum wheels and 19-inch rears, xenon headlamps, cruise control, keyless ignition/entry, full power accessories, OnStar, leather seating, a six-way power driver seat, a manual tilt steering wheel and dual-zone automatic climate control. The top-of-the line ZR1 boasts a supercharged V8, even larger wheels (19-inch front, 20-inch rear), special tires, carbon-ceramic brakes, adaptive dampers and additional lightweight body panels that include a carbon-fiber roof panel and a carbon-fiber hood with a clear polycarbonate window that reveals the engine's intercooler.
New this year is the Ultimate Performance package for the Z06 that adds the ZR1's adaptive dampers, carbon-ceramic brakes, wheels and tires. Further ZR1 imitation comes from the Z06's Carbon Fiber package, which adds most of the ZR1's lightweight panels.

All 2011 Chevrolet Corvettes have a six-speed manual gearbox with launch control as standard, while a six-speed automatic with paddle shifters is a no-cost option for the base and GS models.
Regardless of which Corvette you choose, you'll get stunning performance. EPA fuel economy estimates stand at a laudable 16 mpg city/26 mpg highway and 19 mpg combined for a manual-transmission Corvette. The ZR1 gets the even more sophisticated Performance Traction Management system.

2011 Chevrolet Avalanche Review

2011 Chevrolet Avalanche also delivers useful technology and uncompromising safety features, including Bluetooth wireless phone connectivity with specific steering wheel controls, an available rear camera system, head curtain side-impact air bags and StabiliTrak electronic stability control system. range of 17-inch and 20-inch wheels is offered. The larger wheels fill Avalanche’s wheelhouses, giving the vehicle a confident stance.

The Autoride suspension system, standard on LTZ, complements Avalanche’s quietness and smoothness. The Avalanche offers standard head curtain side air bags with rollover protection for both rows and front-seat safety belt pretensioners that are linked to the vehicle's sensing system to provide segment-exclusive deployment in rear-end crashes.

The Chevrolet Avalanche carries into 2011 essentially unchanged.
In the 2011 Chevrolet Avalanche's case, it's the combination of both pickup and SUV attributes that proves to be so appealing. The Avalanche is based on GM's full-size truck architecture and comes in a four-door crew-cab body style. Unlike a truck, however, the Avalanche's cab and bed aren't separate; instead, the Avalanche features an SUV's one-piece body.

Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options
The 2011 Chevrolet Avalanche is a full-size crew-cab pickup with a removable rear window and exclusive midgate. The LS features a composite cargo bed, a removable three-piece cargo cover, side assist steps, a roof rack and deep-tinted rear privacy glass. Inside you'll find full power accessories, dual-zone manual air-conditioning, front bucket seats with a power driver seat, Bluetooth, OnStar and a single-CD stereo with an auxiliary audio jack, an iPod/USB port, satellite radio and rear-seat audio controls.

Depending on the trim level, other stand-alone or packaged options include 20-inch chromed wheels, power running boards, an integrated trailer-brake controller, a sunroof, a front bench seat and a rear-seat entertainment system.

The 2011 Chevrolet Avalanche is available with either two-wheel drive (2WD) or four-wheel drive (4WD). A properly equipped 2WD Avalanche can tow up to 8,100 pounds. EPA-estimated fuel economy is 15 mpg city/21 mpg highway and 17 mpg combined for both 2WD and 4WD models.

Standard safety features on the Chevrolet Avalanche include antilock disc brakes, stability control, front side-impact airbags and full-length side curtain airbags with a rollover sensor, plus GM's OnStar emergency communications system.

Interior Design and Special Features
Climb up into the Avalanche and you'll find a passenger cabin that can seat up to six passengers with the available 40/20/40-split front bench seat or five with the standard front buckets. When it comes time to haul stuff instead of people, the Avalanche's 5-foot-3-inch cargo bed expands to just over 8 feet with the midgate folded down. The rear tailgate and bed cover also lock to keep valuable cargo secure.

Some GM pickups are defined by ultimate towing capacity or luxurious cabins, while others are hallmarked by their low prices. Lower the Avalanche's rear window, flip some latches and the rear wall of the cockpit folds down, extending the otherwise short pickup bed to near full-size dimensions--while also removing three seating positions from the equation.
